Uganda Lady Cranes Depart for Africa Rugby Women’s 7s Cup Olympic Qualifier

The Uganda Lady Cranes Rugby team has been flagged off to compete in the Africa Rugby Women’s 7s Cup scheduled for October 14–15 in Monastir, Tunisia. The companionship also serves as an Olympic Qualifier for Paris 2024.

Uganda is in Pool A, along with the host Tunisia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Pool B has Kenya, Madagascar, Ghana and Zambia.

David Katende Ssemakula, the Assistant Secretary General of the National Council of Sports, flagged off the team on October 10, 2023.

According to Katende, the team has been doing well and has all it takes to fulfil its Olympic objective.

“The team has been performing well and has all it takes to achieve the Olympics dream, said Katende.

The Lady Cranes Rugby team finished fourth in the previous edition.

Matches for pool A Saturday 11:00 a.m.: Tunisia vs Uganda 14:06 p.m.: South Africa vs Uganda 16:56 p.m.; Uganda vs Zimbabwe

CEO Isaac Lutwama, URU executive members Eunice Olembo, Dorothy Nekesa, and Annie Sarah Nankya, administrative secretary for the National Council of Sport Uganda, were all in attendance.
