The Kira Division Territorial Police is currently probing the untimely and sudden death of Godfrey Mbona, 40, who was the treasurer for Kira Division.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigire, the deputy spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the incident took place at the Kira Division offices in Bulindo, Kira Division, within Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, in the early hours of October 4, 2023.

Preliminary information shows that Mbona reported for work in a regular state. However, during his lunch break, something unusual occurred.

“Upon returning from lunch, some of his colleagues noticed that he had locked himself inside his office. Concerned for his well-being, they peered through the window and were alarmed to find him lying against the wall of the office restroom,” Owoyesigire said.

He said swift action was taken, and the matter was promptly reported to Kiwologoma Police Station.

“The police responded promptly, and Mbona’s body was retrieved and subsequently conveyed to the City Mortuary in Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination,” he added.

According to ASP Owoyesigire, a committed team of professionals is working relentlessly to identify the precise cause of Mbona’s unfortunate loss.

“We understand the public’s desire for answers, and we are committed to providing updates as soon as more information becomes available,” he noted.

He sent Mr. Mbona’s family and friends his sincere condolences during the trying period.
