DON’T SLEEP: MUSEVENI URGES UGANDANS TO USE PREVAILING PEACE TO CREATE WEALTH

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Ugandans to use the prevailing peace and security to create wealth but not to just enjoy sleep.

According to the President, Uganda has the capacity to market what is to be produced adding that people should strive to have both food and income security.

“Our people arenusing the opportunity of peace to Kulambaala (sleep), yet it should enable us to concentrate on becoming wealth creators. Uganda has the capacity to market what you will produce. What we want now is people to strive to have both food and income security,” President said.

President made the statement on Thursday while presiding over the pass out of over 60 Squadron officers and the launch of the Airforce College in Nakasongola district.

“I officiated at the pass-out ceremony of 62 Squadron Officers and launched the Airforce College in Nakasongola District. During my speech to the graduands, I thanked the Forces for providing security to Ugandans and for their continued Patriotism/Pan-Africanism,” President noted.

Early this week, President Museveni while presiding over the International Women’s Day celebration held at Kololo Independence Ground urged Ugandans to embrace Parish Development Model in a bid to combat poverty.

“Last month, on 26th February, I launched the Parish Development Model as the “vehicle” that will deliver social-economic transformation to all communities in Uganda,” President Museveni said.

According to President Museveni, the government shall with the effect from the next financial year provide some Ugx 100 million to each of the 10, 475 parishes across the Country for the Parish Development model.
