The Commander Land Forces, Lt Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned the surviving rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorist group to surrender before it’s too late.

In a message released on Friday morning through his official Twitter account, Lt Gen Kainerugaba warned of the continued fierce attack on ADF rebels during the ongoing joint ‘Operation Shujaa’ in the Eastern DR Congo by the UPDF and Congolese army.

“To ADF combatants. You have seen what we (the joint UPDF/FARDC forces) are capable of. Operation Shujaa will continue until your terrorism ends. Many of your ‘leaders’ have already fled the bush and abandoned you to your fate,” Lt.Gen Muhoozi said.

“Surrender now before it’s too late. The joint forces will receive you and give you a second chance, “Without divulging further detail, Gen Muhoozi urged the few surviving ADF rebels.

Gen Kaneirugaba said since the beginning of Operation Shujaa, UPDF troops with the help of Congolese soldiers have achieved what he termed as tremendous achievements.

“Since the beginning of Op Shujaa a few days ago, our valiant troops together with our Congolese brothers have achieved tremendous successes. We thank our compatriots for their support. Long live the brotherhood between the people of DRC and Ug! We shall triumph against the terrorists,” CLF Gen Muhoozi said.

Security sources privy to the ongoing operation said several ADF captives have been rescued and that about four bases of the group have also been cleared.

On Wednesday, the Defense Spokesperson, Brigadier Flavia Bwekwaso said the operation has continued to record tremendous success.

Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) in conjunction with the Congolese soldiers launched both air and artillery strikes against ADF rebels last week.
