UPDF Emphasizes Significance of Visit by NDC-Kenya as a Vote of Confidence

On December 10, 2023, Major General Francis Okello, Commandant of the National Defence College – Uganda (NDC-U), highlighted the importance of the visit from the National Defence College – Kenya (NDC-K) as a strong vote of confidence and commendation for the strides made by the NDC-U.

During a gathering with a delegation of nineteen (19) course members and staff from the NDC-K, held at the premises of the NDC-U situated in Njeru Buikwe district, General Okello expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “As a young institution, we are invigorated by this visit and collaboration and we eagerly anticipate further interactions.”

General Okello informed the visiting delegation that the NDC-U currently conducts two courses: an NDC Certificate and a Masters’ Degree program in partnership with Makerere University. He further articulated that the institution is in the process of advancing into a full-fledged National Defence University.

The delegation head and Senior Directing Staff-Army at NDC-K, Maj Gen Steven James Mutuku, highlighted that their presence in Uganda is part of a week-long study tour.

Among those in attendance were the NDC-U College Secretary Brig Gen David Tweheyo, the Kenya Defence Attaché to Uganda Col Patrick Nkududa, NDC-U College Coordinator Col John Siyareta, Director of Studies NDC-U Prof Mulindwa Rutanga, and Staff Officers from NDC-U.
