The police in Old Kampala are stuck with two suspected stolen cows and appeal to the public to coordinate with them to identify the owners of the cows in their hands.

“The police at Old Kampala are currently in possession of two suspected stolen cows and are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the rightful owners,” Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday.

According to Owoyesigyire, on June 7, 2023, the Police received valuable information regarding individuals who were attempting to push a Premio Toyota vehicle with registration number UAK 193B off the road due to a mechanical problem.

He revealed that, in response to the report, one of the dedicated police officers at Lungujja Police swiftly responded and successfully intercepted the mentioned vehicle.

However, upon the sight of the police, the occupants fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

The police have called upon people who claim to have lost two cows on June 6, 2023, to access Old Kampala police offices to cross-check with the police.

“As we intensify our efforts to apprehend the individuals responsible for this criminal act, we appeal to anyone who lost two cattle on the 6th of June to come forward and cross-check with us,” Owoyesigyire said.

According to Owoyesiyire, police believe that the recovered cows may be linked to a previous incident, and it is crucial for the owners to come forward and verify their ownership.

He added that further details regarding the recovery and identification process will be made available to the public as soon as possible.

The police have urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information that could lead to further investigation, stating that the cooperation and support of the public are invaluable in maintaining law and order in our society.
