Police Recover Nine Stolen Vehicles, Nine Held

Police have recovered suspected stolen motor vehicles and arrested nine suspects behind the aggravated robberies of motor vehicles in different parts of the country, including the Kampala and Iganga districts.

The suspects have been identified as Makelere Dan, Idinda Mubarak, Nkolawano Burhan, Muitebi Shafik, Kakelele Shafik, Muutebi Faiso, Kafero Dirisa, Kafero Sulaiman, and Nabirye Margret.

The recovered motor vehicles with tampered number plates include the Toyota Harrier, white in color, under registration number UAW 853K; the Toyota Spacio, white in color, under registration number UAT 019U; the Toyota Spacio, white in color, under registration number UAT 382E; and the Prado,  green in color, under registration number UAT 385G.

Others include Toyota Noah, dark blue, registration number UAP 714E; Toyota Noah, white, registration number UAR 297Q; Salon Corolla Black, registration number UAG 127T; Premium Grey, color registration number UAH 763U; and Fuso White, color registration number UAQ 148F.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokeswoman, said the Directorate of Crime Intelligence (DCI)  is still hunting for other members of the criminal gang.

“During the robbery, two female adults were sexually assaulted and thereafter transported to a bush near the National Medial Stores offices, where they were tied to a tree. They were rescued by residents,” Enanga said.

He revealed that the thugs robbed the deceased’s motor vehicle, a Pacio white in color registration number UAX 773C, of 9 million shillings, five mobile phones, and identities, and the vehicle was traced and recovered in Iganga district in eastern Uganda with tampered number plates.

The recovered vehicles are currently parked at Iganga CPS; however, they expect to transfer them to KMP headquarters.
