The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (FCDP) has sanctioned Kyetume Football Club (FC) following hooliganism in their FUFA big league match against Kitara FC on 20th April 2023, at Nakisunga Saza Ground.

According to FUFA, the sanctions include a suspended deduction of two points and two goals should Kyetume FC be responsible for the acts of hooliganism, a cash fine of one million shillings, which should be paid by 2nd May 2023, and a four-match suspension for the Kyetume FC players Oplot Solomon and Patrick Mubiru.

According to the county’s football governing body, FUFA, should the club and the players fail to heed the sanctions, the FUFA competitions disciplinary panel shall be constrained to take stringent disciplinary measures against them.

This stems from the recent decision by the local federation to sanction clubs with the aim of curbing the growing cases of hooliganism in Ugandan football.

On April 20th 2023, the big league match between Kyetume FC and Kitara FC was marred with violence from the Kyetume FC players and fans, who threw objects like stones and abused their opponents; some tried to destroy property like chairs, among others.

It’s alleged that Kyetume’s fans and players lost their temper as they accused Kitara coaches of bribing the referee. Keyetume FC has joined teams that were once sanctioned, including SC Villa, Busoga United, and Kitara FC, over hooliganism.
