The police in Mukono have arrested a Pentecostal self-proclaimed pastor for allegedly trafficking three students from St. Francis Nursing School in Mukono district.

“Our CID Anti-Human Trafficking Department and the Territorial Police in Bulenga and Mukono managed to arrest a pastor, aged 34, and her husband, for recruiting, receiving, and harboring three students from St. Francis Nursing School in Mukono district,” police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga said on Monday.

He also revealed that other two female adults were recruited into her religious cult from Kibale and Masindi districts under the guise of Bible teachings and ministry.

According to police, Kisoma Jackline rented a house with a high perimeter wall to block anyone from witnessing “church” activities through which she indoctrinated the victims.

“The pastor rented a high-fenced, three-bedroom house so that no one would know what was taking place inside. The church was not registered, and she also persuaded the students to abandon education and to avoid going to hospitals for medication,” he said.

She also warned the students about going against her rules, stating that they would be going against God.

According to the police, the pastor has been charged with human trafficking and unlawful confinement.

The police spokesperson argued for the public to remain vigilant, stating that Ugandans are free to report security-threatening behaviors by some individuals to the police to ensure peace and security in their communities.
