The Government of Uganda is set to rehabilitate Kambuga Hospital in Kanungu District. The Government through the Ministry of Finance has released Ugx20b for the rehabilitation.

While appearing before the Parliamentary Budget Committee on Wednesday, January 11 2022, the State Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi confirmed that the ministry has already allocated Ugx20b in the budget to rehabilitate the hospital.

He said that the move to have the hospital rehabilitated has been in plan and during the financial year 2022/23, funds were apportioned and have been availed to the responsible parties.

“There has been a need to have Kambuga Hospital rehabilitated, and during this financial year, we provided ugx20 billion shillings towards the refurbishment of the hospital,” Musasizi.

Over the weekend, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance developed health issues while in Kanungu where he had gone to visit his constituencies and was airlifted to Kampala. The minister was first admitted at Kambuga Hospital but his condition could not be handled from there and was referred to Kampala.
