In a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Desert Foxes (Algeria), Uganda’s chances of qualifying for the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) finals continue to diminish after the result placed the Uganda Cranes in 3rd place in Group F of the qualifying round.

However, if Uganda Cranes can register a win over her groupmate Niger in the forthcoming tie slated for September and hopefully neighbours Tanzania lose to Algeria, then Cranes will stand a huge chance of qualifying for AFCON finals.

Currently, the Sunday result leaves Uganda in third place with 4 points. Algeria, who have already qualified, move to 15 points while Tanzania and Niger have 7 and 2 respectively.

According to the organizers, the September fixtures indicate that Uganda Cranes are set to battle with Niger, and Algeria will face Tanzania to decide the two teams are to play the final game.
