Uganda has pledged commitment to invest in Family Planning during the ongoing International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP).

The conference taking place in Pattaya Exhibition & Convention Hall (PEACH), Thailand, started on 14th November 2022 and is slated to end on 17th November 2022.

The State Minister of Health in charge of general duties, Hon. Anifa Kawooya Bangirana while attending the ICFP stated that Uganda’s commitment to invest in Family Planning is a National priority.

According to Kawooya, government continues to allocate resources towards family planning including procurement of contraceptives.

“We continue to allocate resources towards Family Planning including procurement of contraceptives. Due to increasing competing priorities for resources, the Uganda government is increasingly exploring innovative financing options,” she said.

The ICFP serves as a strategic inflection point for the family planning and reproductive health community worldwide.

ICFP provides an opportunity to disseminate knowledge, celebrate successes, and identify next steps toward reaching the goal of universal access to family planning systems, services and products by convening civil society, youth organizations, academia, governments, businesses, cities, parliaments, trade unions, media and more.

The International Conference on Family Planning has convened the global development community around a shared vision of universal access to family planning since 2009.
