Magaret Nansikombi one of the resettled members narrates that, everything was given as it should have been from EACOP, compensations were done according to one’s interests, because the company would ask each and every individual what they preferred, either money or constructing  a house.

“I chose that a house be constructed for me, then balance of the money  was given to me, I purchased land, generally we are not doing badly, we have water and solar, my children are in the city, I live with my grand children, we are happy, “ Nansikombi said.

Mary Katwesigye under the king fisher development project shares her story of success too; she says the project members took time with persons affected and trained them in various skills and running of different projects and how to manage them.

“My team was trained on chicken rearing, constructing the right structures, how to give the right feeds  to the birds, look after them, it was not easy but they gave us time, how to store the feeds on site, and trained us how to save money from the sales,” said Katwesigye

Walter Oyikun says they were under Tilenga project and total energies Uganda, which informed them that they had been using the land badly doing grazing instead of farming.

“When we had of EACOP, we thought it was a dream, but finally they reached us, and our lifestyles have improved greatly,” said Oyikun

The Uganda oil Journey is creating lasting valve and has already changed lives of so many people in that region and will soon change for the rest of the country.
