The Police in Kabale are hunting for a hit and run vehicle whose driver knocked and killed a 70 year old man at Nyakijumba Trading, in Kyanamira sub county , Center along Kabale – Mbarara road.
Elly Maate , the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman confirmed the incident that took place on Friday and identified the victim as Simon Tibategyeza .
It’s reported that Tibategyeza was knocked while crossing the road from one side of the shops to another , but the driver of the car never stopped or reported the matter at any police station.
Maate said that a police case under reference No TAR 15/2018 has been opened up at Kabale Police station while the body of the deceased was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary.
Maate however warned drivers against reckless driving saying that Police will be deployed at major roads during Xmas days to ensure that the drivers adhere to safe driving on highway and all those caught committing a safety breach on the road will be arrested and produced in courts of law.
