A secret plot by the opposition National Unity Platform Party, NUP, to falsely abduct their candidate in the Kisoro by-election, Sultan Tana, and blame it on security to win sympathy has leaked.

A reliable source within the NUP team plotting to execute the mission has revealed that this operation is being coordinated by Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine himself, in an attempt to secure victory for his girlfriend Tana in Kisoro on Thursday, November 14th, 2024.

Our source confirmed that the plot was hatched during a meeting held at Gorilla Safari Lodge in Kisoro on the evening of Monday, November 11th, 2024. The move aims at causing chaos, attracting public sympathy for their candidate, as well as disrupting the election process.

“A meeting was held on Monday at Gorilla Safari Lodge to lay down the strategies on how to win the by-election. Among other things that were agreed upon was to cause false arrests and abductions of the party flagbearer and some polling agents and accuse the state and security forces of targeting their supporters,” a source said.

The source also revealed that NUP and Bobi Wine acquired military attire from undisclosed sources that resembles the UPDF uniform and will be used by the party foot soldiers who have been tasked with effecting the mission either on Wednesday evening, just less than 24 hours before the voting day, or after.

The abductors will be accompanied by a group tasked with recording the ugly scenes of the staged abductions, and the recordings will immediately be used on the different media platforms accusing the state of abducting the party candidate and polling agents.

To get the desired public attention and sympathy, the NUP camp has also hired a group of about 30 youths; each will be paid UGX 200k upon the completion of the mission, and their task is to flood different social media platforms with the recordings obtained from the staged abductions.

They also plan to confront security personnel at the different polling stations, something that would result in arrests and eventually justify their falsely staged abductions.

False and self-induced abductions are not something new in Uganda’s politics, mostly used by opposition politicians, especially in areas where they don’t attract much crowds and support for their candidates.
