President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed for a full mobilization of Kampala City into a response mode against Ebola Virus Disease-EVD.

The directive followed the confirmation of contacts of two Ebola cases from Mubende District.

“For Kampala City, while the two cases that tested positive came from Mubende District and are regarded as Mubende cases, because of the presence of the contacts of these two cases and the risks of infection, I have directed a full mobilization of Kampala City into a response mode,” the President tweeted Monday morning.

On Saturday, 15th October 2022, the President put Kasanda and Mubende districts on a 21 day lockdown in a move to curb down the infection.

“Regarding the Ebola outbreak, our country has the capacity to control this epidemic,” the President assured Ugandans.

He further directed health ministry and KCCA to immediately develop response guidelines for the city.

The latest outbreak has killed 19 people among 58 recorded cases.
