Prime Minister RT Hon Robinah Nabanja has met with the residents of Kakuto sub-county in Kyotera district who are the center of Sango Bay land dispute with the investors.

PM Nabanja’s visit comes after a directive from the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to investigate the dispute and coordinate an amicable conflict resolution effort.

Sago Bay borders Tanzania where the local occupants and investors are conflicting over the ownership of the land.

The land was allocated to the investors by government.

The Premier implored the community concerned to let investors implement the project for purpose of creating employment and other benefits to move from poverty.

‘’The land that I was shown shows people are not in the sago bay area and will not be tampered with’’ said the prime minister.

The major concern amongst people with the government was taking their land.

‘’We support the government program and we want development in Kyotera district, and we request that people’s land should not have tampered with’’. said one of the leaders.

Nabanja has directed a committee to undertake a verification exercise that will include verifying all stakeholders and original occupants of the land.
