The president of the Republic of Uganda has today July 20, 2023 met a group of scientists led by Mr. Isreal Green, the chief Executive officer of Malera Technologies Limited, to discuss radiation sterilisation to lessen the productivity of offspring in mosquitoes.

According to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Malera Technologies wants to establish high-level artificial intelligence technology known as radiation sterilisation, which sterilises male mosquitoes to lessen the production of any offspring that may arise due to high levels of mosquito bites resulting in malaria.

“Sterilisation of the male mosquitoes, or tsetse flies, is something we have been taking about for a long time,” said Museveni.

H.E. the president urged them to start with the Bukedi sub-region to pilot the method since the area has a lot of water flats and stagnant water, and this will help solve the problem of mosquitoes and have malaria fewer patients.

The President has committed to spreading the success of the Male Mosquito Radiation Sterilisation Study once it is completed.
