Maj. Gen Bakasumba Appointed Acting Chief Of Staff Land Forces

President YK Museveni, the commander in chief of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) has today Wednesday 7th December 2022, appointed Maj. General JA Bakasumba as the new Acting Chief of Staff of the Land Forces.

Prior to the promotion, Bakasumba has been the Chief of Joint Security in Uganda Police.

Another appointment was Maj. General Francis Takirwa who was the Acting Deputy Commander, Land Forces.

The president also promoted Brig. General Bob P Ogiki promoted to Maj. General. Maj Gen Ogiki has also been appointed as the Commander 2nd Division.

The new promotions and appointments were announced through an official statement by the UPDF Deputy Spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki.

“The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulate the General Officers upon their well-deserved promotion and appointments,” the statement reads.
