The annual ImaraGirlsFestival23, a commemorative event that centres on the celebration of women from all backgrounds and the examination of the obstacles they encounter, is set to make a comeback.

Each year, Reach A Hand Uganda organises a celebration to honour the women and girls within communities. In collaboration with the Forum for Women in Democracy and other partners, they are currently advocating for the establishment of a women’s center. This initiative aims to not only improve the lives of women and girls but also highlight the positive contributions made by females in society.

According to Humphrey Nabimanya, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Reach A Hand Uganda, the Imara Girls Festival 23 serves not only as a celebratory event but also as a catalyst for the overarching objective of the Imara Women’s Centre.

”As the date of the Imara Girl’s Festival approaches, scheduled for September 16th, 2023, in Kati Kati, it is gratifying to observe a substantial number of enthusiastic women and girls who are eager to participate in the event,” Humphrey Nabimanya, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Reach A Hand Uganda, made a statement on his social media platform.

Nabimanya further added that the campaign extends beyond the mere objective of generating attention and awareness for the centre. It also aims to foster comprehension of the specific requirements of women and girls in our society, with the ultimate goal of determining the most effective means of supporting women and girls in various domains, including education, entrepreneurship, and the pursuit of their ambitions.

The festival serves as a platform for the convergence of policy players, development partners, young leaders, and key individuals who are actively engaged in promoting opportunities and solutions that prioritise the empowerment and advancement of women, Nabimanya went on to note.

Several local artists, including Lilian Mbabazi, Naava Grey, Iryn Ntale, Spice Diana, and Lydia Jazmine, have confirmed their attendance.

The Imara Girls Festival serves as a platform for mentorship, wherein accomplished female leaders extend guidance and motivation to the upcoming generation. The exchange of knowledge between generations catalyses empowerment, enabling young girls to see their capabilities and pursue them with a sense of self-assurance.
