President Yoweri Museveni has commended the Traditional African Jurisprudence method that he said aims at establishing the truth, building harmony and fighting impunity in societies. The President made the remarks on Monday while presiding over the opening of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) summit in Kampala. He noted that the current legal system that was introduced by the British colonialists many times, leads to cover up of mistakes by lawyers, promoting impunity, as well as breaking societies and relationships. He applauded the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice and other partners for the efforts to discuss integrating ADR.”

Traditional conflict resolution techniques such as mediation, adjudication, reconciliation and negotiation which Africans used in the past offered great prospects for peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationships in post-conflict periods”, he noted.
