Uganda’s young rapper Fresh Kid real names Patrick Ssenyonjo has reached a critical milestone after completing primary education. The 12-year-old rapper now faces the daunting challenge of affording high school education with his dream of joining an international school.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, he completed his primary education, at Kampla Parents school on a scholarship which covered all his educational expenses but believes that international schools offer opportunities and resources beyond what regular schools provide, especially for his career.
Fresh Kid’s remarkable talent propelled him to stardom at just 7 years old and his primary education was made possible by a full bursary from Kampala Parents School. This generous support enabled him to access quality education alongside his musical pursuits. With the previous support having come to the end of the road he is not sure how he will manage to afford an international school without further financial assistance since he hails from a humble background and his family depends mainly on the income generated from his music.
Fresh Kid dreams of joining an international school for his high school education, seeking better opportunities and resources. However, financial constraints may dash these hopes.
Taking to social media, X expressed gratitude for the chance to pursue primary education and aired out his desire to join an international school.
“I am so grateful for my primary level. And I can’t wait for high school to see what my future is going to turn out like. My dream is to join an international school for my high school because its curriculum offers me the environment to grow my talent, ” he posted on his X.
Fresh Kid’s story inspires many young Ugandans, his educational setback could discourage young talented Ugandans and his lack of education may limit his lyrical depth and business acumen.
He is known for songs like Bambi, Fear None, Tozikiza, Abisanyusa Abayaaye, Omuzadde, , Banteeka, Maziima and many more.
Fresh Kid is a Ugandan young rapper who became famous for his songs about poverty and his family’s struggles. His career took off after State Minister for the Youth and Children’s Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi tried to stop him from singing due to child labor laws.
Fresh Kid’s educational journey hangs in the balance. His humble background threatens to halt his educational journey unless financial assistance intervenes through tuition fees for international schools in Uganda which are prohibitively expensive. Securing another bursary or sponsorship through scholarships or bursaries, sponsorship deals, and crowdfunding can bridge the gap between his humble background and high school aspirations.
