The First Daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire, will today, July 27, 2023, premiere a documentary she directed, casting Uganda’s historic journey, its politics, and the stories of men and women who shaped it.

The invite-only screening of the documentary titled “Those from Among You” is scheduled for this afternoon at Kampala’s Arena Mall’s Century Cinemax.

According to sources, despite the presence of well-known personalities, Natasha Museveni Karugire was able to keep the discussion objective while also making sure that each participant’s viewpoint was accurately represented.

The documentary delves into the lives and experiences of the heroes of the Liberation struggle in Uganda, revealing unique insights on the country’s journey.

According to Karugire, she was inspired to create the documentary by a desire to make Uganda’s history available to everyone, especially the younger generation, which is Uganda’s largest population.

Critics expect that “Those From Among You” will be a riveting documentary that transcends politics.

“It comprehensively covers various aspects of Uganda’s past, present, and the changes that have shaped the nation’s social and economic landscape. By cultivating a greater appreciation and understanding of their origins, she hopes to have a lasting influence on Africans in general as well as Ugandans in particular,” a critic stated.

Karugire is dedicated to capturing the spirit of Uganda’s distinctiveness in order to meet the need for Ugandans to express their own tales. She respects the efforts made by the younger generation to use social media platforms to create captivating content that is authentically Ugandan. By finding their own artistic voice, Ugandan filmmakers can represent their heritage from the heart of the Continent.

The documentary will begin airing on NBS, UBC, and Urban TV on Monday, July 31, 2023, following its premiere.
