Entebbe Airport Records Large Increase in Number of Passengers

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has registered a notable increase in passenger traffic transiting through Entebbe International Airport.

Vianney Luggya, the CAA Spokesperson, said that in the month of April 2023, they have been recording over 4000 passengers transiting through Entebbe daily, making a total of 127,283 passengers in the month of April.

“There were 62,413 arrivals, 64,870 departures, 1124 metric tons of imports, and 2794 metric tons of exports,”said Luggya.

According to him, the above figures represent tremendous growth compared to April 2022, which saw 122,341 passengers, averaging around 4,078 passengers per day.

He adds that Entebbe Airport started experiencing positive change in 2022, when it facilitated a total of 1,574,405 for both arrivals and departures, compared to 941,688 in 2021 and 565,541 in 2020.

“The statistics indicate a positive curve for the aviation industry, and it is gradually recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.With this recovery and notable increase in passengers, business and tourism will be boosted, which is positive growth for the country,” Luggya said.
