ARRESTED: Mpigi CAO, District Engineer held over false accountability
The Chief Administrative Officer of Mpigi district, Moses Kanyarutokye, and the district engineer, Samuel Kyambadde, have been arrested by police.
They are accused of falsifying accountability and abusing power in regards to shoddy road construction in different sub-counties.
Their arrest was ordered by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on Sunday.
The duo is being investigated for allegedly approving false accountability that saw the cost of road work in the district inflated and exaggerated way beyond the work done.

Police directs private security on personnel deployment
The police have issued strict guidance to private security companies regarding personnel deployment on duties.
ASP Luke Owoyesigire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police Spokesperson said that all area police unit must be informed by the Private security companies before deploying a personnel.
The advice follows last Sunday’s incident where two guns were robbed from two private security guards who were guarding a chicken farm in Mutungo zone, Lweza parish, in Wakiso district.

UPDF Recovers Stolen Cattle in Abim District
The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) in Abim District has recovered over 16 heads of cattle from Jie cattle rustlers.
According to Capt. Amos Nsamba the UPDF’s 5th Division Spokesperson, the cattle belonging to Odong Nicholas of Wiceere Cell, Oringowelo Ward in Abim Town Council, were raided yesterday 30th June 2022 at around 2:00 pm from his home.

The Court of Appeal has dismissed the bail appeal filed by legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Sewanyana.
On Wednesday, the Court of Appeal trashed their bail appeal and ordered State to expedite their trial in the High Court.
