A female bar owner has been brutally stabbed to death by a drunkard in Masaka district.

This tragic incident happened on April 16, 2024, in the wee hours of the morning in the market triangle in Kakyafu village in Nyendo, in Masaka district.

The deceased has been identified as Nalongo Florence Namugerwa, who was murdered by Sadiq Wasswa, alias Team Muhoozi, aged 40, an electrician in Kakyafu village.

According to preliminary investigations, it is alleged that Wasswa and Namugerwa might have gotten into an argument that led to a fight that made Wasswa break a bottle and brutally stab Namugerwa until she bled out to death.

Molly Katushabe, one of the local council representatives of Kakyafu village, said that Wasswa attacked Namugerwa with a broken bottle and left her unconscious and bleeding out, then later called the neighbors to close the bar that she had dozed off, which made the neighbors suspicious, so they entered inside her bar to look for her but found her unconscious and covered in a lot of blood.

’’Wasswa remained in Nalongo Namugerwa’s bar drinking, but we are still confused as to what made him savagely stab Namugerwa without remorse, leave her bleeding out, cut up her head, face, and neck veins, and leave her in a very sorry state,’’ Katushabe narrated.

She further added that when she was woken up by Nalongo Namugerwa’s neighbors at the bar about what had happened to Namugerwa, they rushed her to Masaka Referral Hospital, but on arrival, she was pronounced dead by the doctors.

According to the doctors at Masaka Referral Hospital, what killed her were not the deep cuts and wounds that were inflicted on her head, face, and body, but the deep cut on her neck and the main neck artery that was cut into two by Wasswa with the broken bottle that made her lose a lot of blood until she died.

The deceased’s body is at Masaka Referral Hospital for further examination.
