Struggling musician Big Eye, who is also a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has expressed disappointment over the poor turnout at his weekend concert, alleging that fellow artist and party leader Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, played a pivotal role in the event’s failure.
Speaking to local media on Monday, 9 December 2024, Big Eye revealed that he was convinced by Bobi Wine, who assured him that he would mobilize his fans for the show. However, despite Bobi Wine’s assurance, only a handful of attendees showed up at the venue, leaving Big Eye frustrated and pointing fingers at the National Unity Platform leader.
“I thought Bobi Wine would help me pull the crowd. I even paid him in advance for his support, but he didn’t deliver. It’s unfortunate because I trusted him, and this has left me feeling betrayed,” Big Eye stated.
The concert, which had been hyped as a major event, was intended to boost Big Eye’s career after a series of setbacks in recent years. However, the low turnout dampened the mood, with empty seats dominating the venue.
Big Eye, known for his hits like “Nkuziniremu” and “Physically Fit,” has faced challenges in regaining the spotlight. This prompted him to join NUP, thinking Bobi Wine would give him ‘Masanyalazi’ to shine and be a successful artist, but all in vain.
The flopping of Big Eye’s concert in spite of Bobi Wine’s endorsement shows a significant diminishment in Bobi Wine’s influence in the country’s music business and a reduction in support for the NUP party.
