Generals Katsigazi, Kandiho Assume New Police Offices

Two senior UPDF officers who were recently appointed and deployed in Uganda Police Force have finaly assumed their new offices.

In a cerermony held on Monday morning and was presided over by the IGP Martin Okoth Ochola, the officers including Major Gen. Tumusiime Katsigazi took over the office of the Deputy IGP while Major Gen. Abel Kandiho took over office of the Chief Joint Staff of the Uganda Police Force.

The IGP also bid farewell to the outgoing CJS, AIGP Jackson Bakasumba on Thursday 17th Feb., last week.

While presiding over the acknowledgement of instruments to the incoming DIGP Katsigazi and CJS Kandiho, IGP Ochola thanked H.E. The President and Commander in Chief, for the additional appointments which have promoted the continued synergy between the UPDF and the UPF.

He thanked the officers and called upon them to share their diverse experiences in the implementation of the vision of the force. He further briefed them about the achievements, opportunities, reforms and challenges facing the institution.

IGP Ochola also highlighted some of the challenges included; logistical and welfare inadequate housing, feeding, education, pressing public safety threats like terrorism, gang and community violence, limited funding and Police misconduct among others.

He reminded the officers of the joint monumental task of deepening the UPF partnership with other stakeholders including the community, filling funding gaps, increased use of technology, best practices, profiling of criminals & the enforcement of force discipline, to mention but a few.

DIGP Katsigazi also thanked H.E. The President for the appointment and for allowing him pursue his passion and honor of serving our citizens, through the Police.

He also thanked the IGP and members of the PAC, for welcoming him and pledged to continue carrying forward the work of the office of DIGP, with the much respect, compassion and transparency that comes with it.

The incoming CJS also extended his profound gratitude to H.E. The President, for his appointment.
