Government Builds Houses for Bududa Landslide Survivors

Government has fulfilled its pledge of constructing houses for the Bududa landslide survivors.

President Museveni on Wednesday hailed the team in Office of the Prime Minister for the good work done as far as the Bulambuli Ressettlement Project.

Sofar, 101 houses have been completed and the survivors are already settling in.

According to Julius Mucunguzi, Head of Communications at OPM, a total of 900 houses will be constructed in phases.

Construction of other 140 houses by the Army and Police is underway.

President Museveni however expressed disappointment by opposition leaders who he termed as enemies of the people of Bududa for trying to block the relocation of Bududa landslide survivors.

“I was disturbed by the leaders that tried to block the relocation of people to safer lands claiming that they were being moved to swampy areas,” he said.

Museveni also expressed his condolences to the people who lost their lives in the landslides.

He thanked the Bugisu leaders for supporting the families during the relocation process.

He said Government is determined to see that all families in Bududa are relocated by end of 2020.
