Police in Nakasongola are on a manhunt for a 45-year-old man who murdered his ex-wife and her new lover due to jealousy.

The deceased have been identified as Hadija Nangobi, aged 44, and Vincent, 40, who were both residents of Posta Zone in Central Ward, Migyeera Town Council, in Nakasongola district.

According to police preliminary investigations, the deceased were both killed by Nangobi’s jilted husband, Tarasis Oweyesiga, a resident of Nalukonge Zone LC I in Migyeera Town Council, who went to Nangobi’s new home, attacked her and her new lover with a machete, killed them both in cold blood, and is now on the run.

While speaking to journalists on May 3, 2024, Sam Twineamazima, the Savannah Region Police Spokesperson, said that on May 2, 2024, at around 8:00 p.m., Oweyesiga went to his ex-wife’s new home with a machete and killed both her and her lover in cold blood because he was jealous of her new life.

Twineamazima revealed that Nangobi left Oweyesiga at the beginning of the 2024 year in January due to some irreconcilable differences and continuous fights between them, and this did not sit well with him, and from that time on, he has been waiting for the right time to strike back at her.

“Oweyesiga knew that there was a power blackout in the area, so he used this to his advantage to go to where Nangobi and her new lover were renting, attacked them, and hacked them to death. It is so sad that this horrible crime was witnessed by Nangobi’s twelve-year-old daughter,” Twineamazima revealed.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for a postmortem as police investigations are going on.

Twineamazima added that although it appears that this gruesome attack was single-handedly done by the jilted husband, police investigations have already started to ascertain why he even committed such an atrocious act.

He further called upon the residents of Migyeera Town Council to report Oweyesiga to the nearest police station in case he was seen anywhere so that he can be charged with murder.
