Suspected Armed robbers in Namungoona arrested with Toy pistol

The territorial Police at Old Kampala yesterday 8th November 2022, carried out an intelligence led operations in Namungoona and arrested eleven suspects with a toy pistol.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, police officers were tipped with information from a reliable source that someone was seen with a gun in a bar. When officers followed up they found the suspects with one black plastic toy gun, mairungi and a bag of fresh opium.

“Following a tip from a source, we launched an operation and arrested eleven suspects who were found with a toy pistol in Namungoona II zone,” Onyango said.

The suspects were arrested from Namungoona ii zone at a local drinking point known as EWA NICO NOTE BAR MAGOMBE.

The arrested suspects include;  Kalule Jordan, Ntwatwa  Muzafaru, Namiraku Patrick, Kalemera John, Kibaatu Constant, Nicolas Kavuma, Sentongo Fredrick, Mukasa Paul, Mugume Emmanuel, Sengozi Isaac and Namagga Azida.

The suspects are being detained at Old Kampala Police Division and will be taken to court to answer charges of unlawful possession of a toy gun, knife and nicotine substances.

The arrest follows a series of armed robberies targeting security installations and the business community especially in the central region.
