9 arrested for Noise Pollution in Kampala

The territorial police in the Kampala Metropolitan East and Kira Division arrested nine suspects for noise pollution from areas of Kireka and Bweyogerere Municipality.

SCP Fred Enanga Police spokesperson, in a statement released yesterday evening, September 11, 2023, said that, at around midnight on the night of September 10, 2023, concerned residents reported to police about loud music in their neighbourhoods.

“The facts gathered indicate that there were a number of bars that were playing loud music, making it uncomfortable for the residents of Kireka and Bweyogerere to sleep,” Enanga said.

Enanga noted that a joint task force from Kira Division carried out counter operations from 3 bars, and 9 suspects were arrested.

The police identified the suspects as Peter Byarugaba, Brenda Akandunda,James Kashaya,James Andabati, Ramathan Pandi,Simon Atiku,and Robert Obita from Sam, Obed, Simon bars. Several exhibits and speakers were recovered.
