After President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni winning himself a sixth term in office on 14th January a lot of events have taken place concerning the elections.
Gen Museveni faced a pseudo powerful opponent, the popular singer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, 39, known by his stage name Bobi Wine, who has captured the hearts of youth thinking that he is the new Saviour.
As time went by, a lot of people have come to realize that Bobi wine is a state agent planted by Museveni’s government to disorganize the youth and swallow myopic opposition leadership in Uganda.
In November 2020, at least 54 people died during demonstrations, the Bobi wine supporters rioted protesting against his arrest. All those youths suffered without knowing the motive and intentions of Bobi wine’s plans with the State.
Throughout the presidential campaigns, none of Bobi wine’s siblings was attacked or arrested by security operatives. It’s said that majority were catered for by the government to remain enjoying to that extent that they never publicly campaigned for him. The likes of Eddie Yawe and Chairman Fred Nyanzi were deal darling with the government.
Bobi wine has betrayed the struggle by not calling up people to demonstrate or demand for their win in the last presidential elections, he only told them they seek help from courts of judicature the same courts he has always labelled to be not independent claiming they are compromised by the dictator he is fighting to remove.
One would ask himself why would he again rush to the courts of law that he doesn’t believe can make independent decisions.
A prominent member of the NUP we spoke to who preferred anonymity was furious and out raged that their principal had betrayed the struggle and went to bed with the regime, ‘’ the man promised Ugandans engule and he said he had the mantle to take on Gen Museveni and went on to say if they don’t announce him as a winner Museveni and the electoral commission would see what the power of people can do, as a leader he is supposed to show the way to his supporters but one month has passed and he has no plan hes just in Magere celebrating birthdays. we already everything he sold us through that a munyarwanda wife of his” said the angry member of NUP.
In the past few weeks, several of Wine’s associates were trapped in a game where they ended up being banned from campaigning, detained and beaten on multiple occasions, supposedly because rallies breach Covid-19 but Bobiwine remained not bothered.
Even after losing the elections, he recently supported the government position and denounced plan B which was announced by Dr Kizza Besigye.
Several bank accounts of NGOs which were dealing with Bobiwine were frozen and even lawyer Nicholas Opio was arrested and charged with money laundering but Bobiwine’s bank accounts have remained receiving huge sums of money.
Bobiwine’s businesses on shores of Lake victoria, Petrol stations in Gomba town and restaurant in Kamwokya have not be disrupted by the state and even when police blocked his musical shows at Busabala, the head of government business Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda ordered for his compensation.
The singer Bobi wine’s family has been free flying in and out of the country to America and Europe without any hurdles at the airport.
As Government inserted more pressure on Bobi wine, a deal was cracked through his wife Barbara Kyagulangyi Itungo. She was contacted by Adonia Ayebare the celebrated diplomat in international peace negotiations
The meetings were held first in Kampala at undisclosed location.
The final meetings were held at Emburara farm owned by Frank Tumwebaze in mbarara.
It is said that government through represented by Adonia Ayebare, Frank Tumwebaze and Barbie was escorted by her aunt from the side of her mum.
After these fruitful negotiations, Bobiwine accepted even to launch his manifesto in Ankore at Kakyeka stadium.
The current Secretary General of National Unity Platform Louis David Rubongoya who is one of the best Bobiwine’s friend was sponsored by statehouse to study and he been exchanging alot of useful dialogue and conversation with top government officials.
M7 Recently, speaking at his ranch in Kisozi, west of the capital, Museveni said that he had a lot of emissaries that he had set up in opposition political parties to run for some political offices as the state informers.
Museveni, who came to power in 1986 by defeating Milton Obote in a bush war, said he was still “a freedom fighter.” After the atrocities committed by Obote and previously by Idi Amin, he stabilised the country and encouraged freedom of speech.
In the recent interviews, Bobiwine revealed how he adored President Museveni for liberating Uganda in military, the police and the ministries are loyal to Museveni. The Special Forces Group, headed by the president’s son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, provides him with a personal armed force,
while secret intelligence agents operate a parallel security structure.
“I used to adore Gen Museveni,” he said. “When we were children every plane that passed we would cry, ‘hey Museveni!’, but slowly he has become a daily inspirational.”
