Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) has rallied leaders and residents of Kasese District to join efforts towards eliminating the remnants of the Allied Democratic Forces.

Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, the Commander of the Land Force, made these remarks at a mobilisation meeting held in Bwera Sub-County, Kasese District, with the Commander Mountain Division and Operation Shujaa, Major General Dick Olum.

He claimed that with the help of the people of Kasese, the army were able to defeat the enemy.

“The enemy is at his most vulnerable right now. We have killed many of their foreign fighters and commanders,” Muhanga stated.

Lt Gen Muhanga urged the residents to be vigilant and always report unknown and suspicious people in their areas before the terrorists take advantage and cause mayhem in their homes.

Maj Gen Olum, the commander of the UPDF forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo under the joint Uganda/DRC mission code named Operation Shujaa, called upon the local leaders and residents to always share information early enough, which will enable the security forces to detect the enemy before they cause damage.

He emphasised the need for the concerned authorities to educate the masses and share amongst their colleagues the necessary tips and information on how to combat and report suspicious characters in their area.

Senior officers, including Deputy Prime Minister of Rwenzururu Kingdom Edwin Kugonza, senior police officers, RDC Kasese district Lt John Walusimbi, and local leaders, attended the meeting.
