UPDF, Congolese Army Neutralize ADF Commander and Group Medic

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), in a joint operation with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), have put out of action an Allied Democratic Forces commander and the outfit’s medic known as ‘Dr’ Musa.

UPDF Mountain Division / Operation Shuja’s public information officer Major Bilal Katamba in a statement dated April 9, 2024, said that the ADF commander and ‘Dr’ Musa were killed in action by a joint mobile squad forces under the 83 battalion of the UPDF at Mugulumugulu near Tokomeka, 30km Northwest of Kainama.

“‘Dr’ Musa, who is of Rwandan origin at the time of his death, was operating closely with another notorious ADF commander called Muhammad Luminsa,” Major Katamba stated.

Maj Katamba noted that among the items recovered were an SMG and a walkie-talkie, However, some members of the troops are still missing.

“The joint forces recovered one Sub Machine Gun (SMG) and one Radio (walkie-talkie). The tactical efforts to locate, fix and neutralize other group members still at large by the joint troops continue, “He noted.

The UPDF further reports of the intensified implanting of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) but still promises that the joint forces’ technical explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) teams are handling the IED threats.

Major said that the joint forces continue to aggressively pursue the ADF remnants in their scattered hideouts in all four sectors of the operation.

Recently on Friday, April 5th, 2024 the Joint Forces also managed to put out of action a notorious commander of the Allied Democratic Forces rebel group known as ‘Baghdad’.

These are among the many ADF Commanders the Ugandan forces working together with their counterparts in the DRC have managed to neutralize in an effort to keep peace in their respective regions.
