Uganda’s U18 Women’s Football Team continued their unbeaten run in the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) 2023 U18 Women’s Championship, defeating Zanzibar.

During the ongoing competition, Uganda defeated Zanzibar 3-0 at the Azam Complex on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Brenda Munyana, Agnes Nabukenya, and team leader Phiona Nabulime each scored a goal to lead the squad to win.

The breakthrough came in the second half of the game, with Munyana scoring first in the 63rd minute, Nabukenya doubling the advantage two minutes later, and Nabulime putting the frosting on the cake in the 83rd minute.

In the 46th minute, Uganda made a double substitution, with Allen Nassaazi and Patricia Naiga replacing Shamsa Najjuma and Kamiyat Naigaga, which improved the tempo of the game.

This victory means Uganda has two wins and has yet to play against Burundi and Tanzania.

The Championship is played in a round-robin format, with five teams competing: Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Burundi, and Ethiopia.

The team with the most points at the end of the championship is crowned the winner.
