Uganda’s U18 Women’s Team Beats Ethiopia in CECAFA Clash

Uganda’s U18 Women National Football Team got off to a strong start, defeating Ethiopia 1:0 in the first game of the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) U18 Championship on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The game was hotly contested, with both teams having scoring chances.

However, in the second half, substitute Allen Nassazi scored the game’s sole goal in the 68th minute to give Uganda a hard-fought victory. Nassazi came on for Shamsa Najjuma in the 63rd minute and scored five minutes later.

Uganda is now second in the standings, trailing Tanzania, which defeated Burundi 3:0 in their first game.

Uganda will return to action against Zanzibar on Friday, July 26, 2023.

The championship has a round-robin format, with five teams competing, including Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Burundi, and Ethiopia.
