A security guard employed by Saracen Security Company, identified as Egwand Ambrose, is reported to have injured three individuals at Nomads Bar and Grill in the Bunga Soya Kampala area.

Police reports indicate that on February 4, 2024, Egwand was instructed by the bar manager to cease working due to signs of intoxication.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, at approximately 10 P.M, the security guard, a resident of Lower Konge Makyinde division in Kampala district, returned to the bar and began firing shots while searching for the manager.

“We have learned that the bar’s manager, upon observing that the security guard was inebriated, advised him not to continue working. Regrettably, around 10 P.M. the individual sought out the manager while discharging his firearm,” reported Owoyesigyire.

Owoyesigyire revealed that three customers, two females identified as Kailey (24 years old) and Venus (25 years old), along with a 23-year-old male named Aiden, sustained injuries from the four bullets fired by the security guard. They are currently receiving medical treatment at a local health facility.

The police have launched a search for Egwand, who fled the scene with the weapon. Statements have been collected from witnesses, employees, and the victims to aid in the investigation and subsequent prosecution of the suspect upon his apprehension.

Law enforcement authorities urge security companies and District Police Commanders in the area to prioritize supervising security personnel to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Bar owners are advised to report concerning behavior to security firms for assistance in disarming their employees, discouraging vigilantism, and ensuring a safe environment for patrons and staff alike.
