The National Coordinator for Emyooga Program, Ritah Namuwenge, has today, May 30, 2023, urged Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), and District Internal Security Officers (DISOs) from Rwenzori and Bunyoro Regions to focus on and closely monitor the ongoing Emyooga program.

The Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga programs received top priority during a two-day workshop that the office of the President organized at the Miika Eco Resort Hotel in Hoima to train the RDCs, RCCs, and DISOs in the monitoring and evaluation of various government programs.

“Emyooga is a Presidential Initiative on Job and Wealth Creation where people having the same skill, talent, or enterprise come together with the objective of eliminating poverty, changing people from subsistence to a money economy.” Ritah Explained.

“The objective of Emyooga is to stimulate savings through increased income.” She added.

The Emyooga program is also meant to teach people how to grow their capital and expand their businesses.

“In Emyooga, we also give seed capital to organized groups to help them at least have a source of revenue, and it’s up to you as officers to monitor and supervise these projects so that we can get our people out of poverty.” Ritah explained.

According to Lt. Maate Magwara, the Deputy RDC for Kasese district, the training on monitoring and evaluation of these government programs is extremely appropriate, and it has handled the practical part, which helps to evaluate the projects.

“The two-day workshop has also been so helpful in interacting with fellow RDCs and DISOs from different districts, as it helps us to learn from one another and share solutions to existing problems.” Said Kisembo Sally, the Diso Ntoroko.

The training is part of the many efforts from the office of the president to build the capacity of key stakeholder groups in monitoring, supervising, evaluating, and implementing the different projects.
