Mpigi Police have arrested an Israeli today, July 18, 2023, who is an employee of a road construction company, for allegedly strangling his Ugandan wife following a domestic misunderstanding relating to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) results.

Taheed Waeed, a Pakistani resident of the Kalagala-Kikutizi zone near the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe, Mpigi, was arrested after allegedly leading the Police to a pit where he had dumped the body of Monica Nalubega.

According to Mwogezi Stephen, the area LC1 defense secretary, and neighbor, it is alleged that the couple recently developed misunderstandings after taking their two children for DNA tests.

“The couple was recently engaged in fights at home over the issue of DNA tests for the two children and this forced Nalubega to leave and return to their parents’ home,’’ Mwogezi stated.

Mwogezi stated that Nalubegas’s relatives, some of whom live in Kayabwe town, got concerned about her whereabouts after she went missing for three days.

He added that on Saturday, the relatives started looking for her, and when they approached him, he claimed that she had gone to Kampala to shop for supermarket items, as usual.

“We, however, started getting a funny stench around the fenced home and feared for the life of the woman after all these quarrels, “said Mwogezi.

Mwogezi said that the naked body of Monica Nalubega was retrieved from an abandoned home pit.

Taheed said the wife had returned with the 7-month-old baby on Thursday after promising that he wanted to settle the matter politely.

The deceased body was taken to the Mulago City mortuary after the arrest of the suspect.
