PNG Barramundis to Tour Uganda for ODI Series

The Papua New Guinea (PNG) Barramundis side will tour Uganda for a four-match 50-over series against the Uganda Cricket Cranes.

They will be in Uganda from September 16th to 22nd, 2024, to prepare for the Challenge League A, first leg in Kenya. This is the first time the PNG team is visiting Uganda.

Uganda Cricket confirmed this development in a statement released Tuesday, 3 September 2024.

According to the statement, the Cricket Cranes will use the same tour to prepare for the first leg of the Challenge League B that Uganda will host.

The two sides were in the same group at the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies, with the Cricket Cranes winning the contest in Guyana. However, this time they will compete against each other in a different format.

The four-match series will be played at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe.

Uganda will host the first leg of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Challenge League Group B from November 5th to 16th, 2024.

The men’s national teams from Bahrain, Hong China, Italy, Singapore, and Tanzania are in the first three scheduled rounds for both groups, at the conclusion the top two teams from both groups will advance to the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off Tournament.
