Museveni Congratulates Congolese President on Second Term Re-elections, Praises His Success in Combating Insurgents in the Region

President Yoweri Museveni has congratulated his Democratic Republic of Congo counterpart Felix Tshisekedi on his re-election for a second term.

In his message, released on January 1, 2024, Museveni applauds the President-elect for his efforts in combatting insurgents in the East African Community Territory by allowing to work with Congo Army to flash out the ADF in Eastern Congo.

“ Fellow Ugandans and, the fraternal people of the Democratic Republic of Congo; I take this opportunity, on behalf of the Ugandans, to congratulate H.E Felix Tshisekedi on winning the electoral contest in Congo, as announced by the Electoral Commission, “Museveni Stated.

Museveni highlighted that, Tshisekedi had positively contributed to the efforts of the region by bringing Congo into the East African Community and by allowing Uganda to work with the Congo Army in dismantling the ADF in Eastern Congo.

Museveni also lauds Shisekedi for bringing Congo into the South African community. He became the fourth EAC head of state to send congratulatory message to Tshisekedi.

Shisekedi won the December 20 ,2023 elections with a landslide win of 73% of the vote against his closest rival Moïse Katumbi, who secured a paltry 18% of the votes cast.
