The Court of Appeal has dismissed the bail appeal filed by legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Sewanyana.

On Wednesday, the Court of Appeal trashed their bail appeal and ordered State to expedite their trial in the High Court.

The legislators had challenged the decision of the High CourtĀ sitting in Masaka district that had earlier denied their bail application.

MP Ssegirinya of Kawempe North and MP Sewanyana of Makindye West MP have been in Prison on remand since September 2021.

The legislators are charged with murder, attempted murder, terrorism and abetting terrorism in connection to the ā€˜Bijambiyaā€™ operations that claimed lives of about 10 people in Masaka and Lwengo districts.

Court records indicate that the duo were denied bail on grounds of their capital offenses and for fear of jeopardising investigation into their offenses.

The legislators are charged alongside four other suspects identified as Mike Sserwada, Jude Muwonge, Bulo Wamala and John Mugerwa.

The suspects are believed to have aided planning and facilitating executions of several attacks that resulted into several murder incidents at happy boys, Kalenda and Kayanja Estate House in Kampala.

This is the third time bail application filed by the legislators is being denied.
