The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with partners, has introduced a new campaign dubbed ‘Together for Mama’ that aims at promoting maternal and newborn health in Uganda.

Dr. Diana Atwine, the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary on Monday, August 26, 2024, during the launch of Together for Mama Campaign said it will mobilize local support for essential life-saving equipment that will be distributed to healthcare facilities facing service delivery gaps.

She said the campaign being implemented in partnership with other development partners, including Stanbic Bank, will feature quarterly fundraising events.

“The year-long campaign is designed to address critical shortages in maternal and newborn care by ensuring that health facilities are equipped with the necessary tools to provide quality services,” Dr. Atwine said.

“The campaign not only seeks to raise funds but also aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by mothers and newborns in accessing quality healthcare,” Dr. Atwine said.

The campaign is to run under the hashtag #TogetherForMaMa and will be wrapped up by a walkathon on October 6, 2024.
