Maj. Edgar Ankwasa Takes Over NEC Leadership

Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Innocent Oula, the Deputy Managing Director of National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), officiated over the turnover of the General Manager’s office of NEC Uzima Ltd. yesterday, May 2, 2023, at Kakiri Barracks in Wakiso District.

Maj. Edgar Ankwasa was named Ag General Manager, succeeding Brig Gen Dr Emmanuel Shillingi, the leaving General Manager of NEC Uzima Ltd., who is heading to Kigali to serve as Uganda’s Defense Advisor.

Brig. Dr. Emmanuel Shillingi was congratulated on his appointment and received best wishes for his next tour of duty from Gen. Oula.

In addition, Gen. Oula congratulated Maj. Edgar Ankwasa on his new post as Ag General Manager and urged the staff to work together as a team.

Maj. Edgar Ankwasa thanked the army and NEC leadership for their confidence and trust in him as he confirmed his appointment as acting general manager of NEC Uzima Ltd.

He promised to fulfill his obligations with the utmost devotion, loyalty, and dedication.

The departing general manager was congratulated and appreciated for his significant achievements that helped NEC Uzima Ltd. grow from a tiny factory to a medium-sized production facility. He was additionally urged to continue serving as a goodwill ambassador.

He urged the staff to work cooperatively, proactively, and professionally and to focus their efforts on developing a sense of teamwork, maintaining order, and providing devoted service.

Gen. Shillingi expressed his gratitude to the Army Leadership and the Commander in Chief, Gen. (Rtd.) Yoweri K. Museveni, for giving him the opportunity to run NEC Uzima Ltd. and for later promoting him to the position of Defense Advisor to the Republic of Rwanda.

He also expressed his gratitude to the NEC leadership and fraternity for their assistance throughout his tenure as General Manager.

Gen. Shillingi was also grateful for the continuous market provided by the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF.

NEC Uzima Ltd. is an affiliate of NEC and the manufacturer of Uzima Natural Mineral Water.

Mr. Oyera Edson, Senior Staff at NEC Uzima, Mr. Katongana James, PRO-NEC, and Department Heads were present for the handover and takeover.
