The LCIII vice-chairperson of Napumpum Sub-County in Kotido District is the latest suspected cattle rustler to be killed by the security.

The deceased identified as Longoli Aped was put out of action by the UPDF soldiers on Thursday night while leading a cattle raid into Napak District.

Lieutenant Colonel Chris Magezi, the Director of Communication in the office of Commander land Forces confirmed the incident.

According to Magezi, some local leaders within the region are believed to be part of prominent cattle rustlers.

“Longoli Aped is one of those who have been condemning UPDF for not doing enough to stop cattle rustling in Karamoja during the day, and then leading cattle raids at night,” Lt Col Magezi said.

On Friday, a security source told this website that the armed criminal enterprise in Karamoja is steadily being neutralized.

Last week, President Museveni said the little security threats in Karamoja would be dealt with soon.

This was during the pass out of over 6000 Local Defense Unit Personnel who had completed their basic military training from Kawaweta Military School.
