The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has appealed to the school head teachers and parents to register any remaining potential candidates before July 31, 2023, or pay double the registration fee.

According to Jennifer Kalule Musamba, UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, the final and last phase of late registration starts July 1st–30th and will attract a surcharge of 100% at all levels.

“Heads of centres are therefore urged to try and register any remaining potential candidates and ensure that no learner is left out. After July 31st, there will be no more Registration of candidates,” she announced.

The first phase of late registration for 2023 candidates concludes tonight, June 30, 2023, at midnight. This comes after the standard registration time was extended from May 31st to June 7th, 2023.

Jennifer Kalule Musamba, UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer.

She advises that applicants for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) who have not registered by midnight would be charged a 50% premium on the initial costs, which were Shs. 164,000 for UCE and Shs. 186,000 for UACE, respectively.

Candidates for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) will be charged a 100% surcharge in addition to the original registration price of Shs. 34,000.

UNEB also reminded heads of centres to scrutinise the uploaded data and make changes where necessary to avoid a surcharge.

“We also wish to remind schools that they have until July 31 to make amendments to the registration data without any surcharge.”

UNEB has urged the teachers to ensure that effective teaching and learning take place to prepare candidates and avoid the temptation to indulge in examination malpractice.
