Kabale District to Host International Mid-Wife Day

Kabale district has been selected to host the International mid wife day slated to take place on May 5th 2022.

The theme of this year’s international midwifery day shall be, “100 years of progress.”

The International day of Midwife is celebrated on 5th May every year to give a chance to midwives to celebrate their profession and for the world to recognize their work and contribution to maternal and new-born health.

A total of 500 midwives and nurses across the country are expected to attend and participate in this year’s international Day of Midwife in Kabale District.

The principal Nursing Officer in charge of midwifery services in the ministry of health, Acam Jane Frances confirmed that the ministry has considered Kabale district to host this year’s commemorations after fulfilling all the requirements.

This year’s commemorations shall include, community outreaches for immunization, a two days conference for the midwives, visiting schools to dialogue against early pregnancies and sensitizing the community about family planning.

The Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma argued the midwives and nurses to use this year’s celebrations to check and change their behaviour while handling expectant mothers.
