A special joint district council sitting is set to be held this afternoon in Nebbi district in honour of Supreme Court Judge Stella Arach Amoko.

Justice Amoko will be buried on Saturday, July 1st, at her ancestral home in Juba Village, Jukiya Hill Ward, Nebbi district.

According to the funeral programme released by the judiciary on Thursday, July 29th, the cortege will depart from Kampala for Nebbi district on Friday, July 30th.

The deceased’s body will then be taken to the ancestral place for an overnight vigil, and on Saturday, there will be a requiem mass at Caritas Grounds and later burial.

Nearly two weeks after she died, her funeral programme was released by the judiciary following a court pre-announcement on a family dispute over the late Amoko’s burial place.
The children preferred their mother’s body to be buried in Nebbi, but the widower, Ambassador Idule Amoko, preferred Adjumani district.

The court, however, followed the children’s desires because they were those of the late Justice Amoko.

Justice Amoko passed away at Nakasero Hospital at the age of 69.
