Fire destroys Mbarara View High school staff room, library

The police in Mbarara city are investigating a fire incident that gutted Mbarara View High School on Monday early morning.

ASP Samson Kasasira, Rwizi Regional police spokesperson said fire broke out from the head teacher’s office that also house library and the school staff room burring it to ashes around 3am on Monday.

Police says investigation to establish the possible cause of the incident is underway but maintained that no physical injury was recording from the fire.

Eye witnesses said several learning materials including books and vital administrative records are among the items destroyed.

The fire was however put off by the police firefighting personnel within the area who responded immediately at the scene after being called.

This is the second fire incident to be recorded within Mbarara City in a period of less than two weeks after the one at Mbarara S.S that occurred on 17th June 2022 that left several items damaged.

The incident saw several property of S1, S2, and S3 students including mattresses, books, shoes, and basins worth millions of shillings destroyed.
